The UK Home Office's rank hypocrisy regarding Geert Wilders is pathetically embarrassing as the weakness of a government that has clearly surrendered to Islamic supremacism.  The UK Home Office claimed that its objectives in silencing Wilders was to "stop those who want to spread extremism, hatred and violent messages," while its security minister calls for talks with Al-Qaeda, while it allows Hezbollah supporters to enter the UK to tour the nation, while its promotes an individual calling for Jihad and supporting the Taliban, while it funds an organization that praises Egypt's Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa (a known Hezbollah supporter and Islamic supremacist).  This is the same UK Home Office that allows its employees to be members of the Islamic supremacist Hizb ut-Tahrir, which seeks the creation of a Islamic supremacist caliphate, supports jihad, and whose leaflets have been reported by BBC to include "threats against Jews to "kill them wherever you find them'" -- the same Hizb ut-Tahrir organization that reportedly radicalized British suicide bomber Omar Shariff -- the same Hizb ut-Tahrir organization whose speakers state "democracy is un-Islamic."

So this makes it clear that the UK Home Office's use of the meaningless term "extremism" is merely a political ploy to silence only those who would challenge their efforts to maintain a "covenant of security" between the UK and Islamic supremacists.  There will be no silencing of  former Al-Muhajiroun leader Anjem Choudary and the "Islam for the UK" group, who provided a forum on November 10, 2008 in the UK for Omar Bakri Muhammad , who told the audience "Do not obey the British law... We must fight and die for Islam."    "Islam for the UK" has another meeting scheduled for March 3, 2009 where it will seek to encourage Muslims to develop a global Islamic supremacist caliphate.  But this isn't "extremism" for the UK Home Office.  Nor did UK Home Office concerns about "extremism" halt a Muslim Brotherhood festival for the terrorist group Hamas in London on February 15, 2009 - just a few days after the UK Home Office silenced Geert Wilders.  The  fund raising Hamas festival in London included Wagdi Ghuniem, who has been thrown out or run out of most countries, except of course, the UK -- the same Wagdi Ghuniem, who promotes Jihad and calls Jews "apes."   Not surprisingly, this Muslim Brotherhood festival for the Hamas terrorist group also included so-called British "counterterror leader" Kamal Al-Helbawy, the "former" Muslim Brotherhood spokesman in UK, who supports attacks on Israeli children, and is viewed as "really respected" by British journalists in "counterterrorism" such as CNN's Peter Bergen and Paul Cruickshank.

When one understands that the UK Home Office's real agenda is to silence those who would point out their abject surrender to Islamic supremacism, it is clearly no surprise that they would not want Geert Wilders to speak.  It is also not surprising that other UK institutions have sought to silence Briton Douglas Murray and others; Mr. Murray, a challenger of Islamic supremacism in the UK, was silenced by the London School of Economics in "the interests of public safety."

But what you may not realize is the UK Home Office has also aggressively sought to influence debate in the United States as well.  On June 24, 2008 in Washington, DC, the UK Home Office sent a representative to a George Washington University panel discussion that I was part of, regarding the definition of "jihad" to dissuade Americans from using the term "jihad" or "Islamist" when discussing Islamic supremacist terrorism.  In our nation's capital, this foreign government sought to sway American debate to ignore the Islamic supremacist nature of Jihad.

Two months later, I was told by a well-known American blog on counterterrorism subjects that the UK Home Office had written them in complaint of my articles regarding Islamic supremacism in the UK and sought to have me silenced (an American).  I was told that the representative of the UK Home Office was specifically angry about an article where I questioned why the Quilliam Foundation was publicly praising on their web site Egyptian Mufti Ali Gomaa - a known supporter of Hezbollah and Islamic supremacism -- while Quilliam claims to oppose "Islamism."  A few weeks before that Senators Kyl and Coburn had written then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice asking why U.S. government funds were supporting ISNA's meeting with this same Ali Gomaa.  Like ISNA, the UK Home Office does not need such scrutiny of the facts, and this particular American blog chose to discontinue my articles on Jihad and Islamic supremacism.   (Four months later, the Quilliam Foundation was given 1 million pounds sterling of British taxpayer funds -- and their support for Ali Gomaa remains on their public web site.)

The UK Home Office's agenda in protecting its "covenant of security" with Islamic supremacism is not going to be limited to silencing just visiting European legislators such as Geert Wilders.  It seeks to silence Americans in this country as well, and it will doubtless continue to use its resources and influence within this country to do so.  This shows the stakes in failing to defy Islamic supremacism -- surrender will not only undermine support for equality and liberty, surrender will also alter your relations with free nations committed to being responsible for equality and liberty.  While we must continue to support the resistance movement by individuals in the UK who are still committed to equality and liberty, we must recognize that the current British Home and Foreign Offices and their supporters have abandoned all pretense of commitment to equality and liberty, preferring appeasement and infiltration by the enemy.  It has gone well down the road to becoming an enemy-occupied, collaborationist, "Vichy Britain."  

Moreover, some publicly promote their collaborationist credentials to impress Islamic supremacists, as shown by the February 15, 2009 report of the Archbishop on Canterbury's claims that he has persuaded "a number of fairly senior people" to support the growing incorporation of Islamic supremacist Sharia law in the United Kingdom.  Some wear their surrender proudly.

This is the treacherous, sinister, perverted future that would await free people who fail to be accountable in defying Islamic supremacism; those who fail to defy it will eventually become a tool of the enemy to protect your "peace" through submission.  Failure to defy Islamic supremacism will not only cost us our freedoms... it will also cost us our identity.

In Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," there is the well-known story of Scrooge facing the "ghost of Christmas yet to come," a grim reaper that points to Scrooge's dishonor, disgrace, and grave. Scrooge asks "Are these the shadows of the things that Will be, or are they shadows of things that May be, only?"

This is the question to America regarding what we must learn from the grim and sad tale of the United Kingdom's appeasement of Islamic supremacism. The deteriorating United Kingdom serves as a cautionary example of the future that awaits us, should we fail to be responsible for equality and liberty today.

Americans can choose another path. Our destiny remains in our hands. Our ability to forge a new path of defiance against Islamic supremacism and in defense of equality and liberty remains the responsibility of our generation.

In the global war against Jihad, the United Kingdom is a key battlefield of vital importance to American national security. British Jihadists have planned or attempted three mass casualty terrorist attacks on the United States homeland - led by Dhiren Barot, Richard Reid, and a team of jihadists who sought to target transatlantic jets from UK to Washington DC, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. The national security debates over American homeland security must not lose sight of the continuing threat of Islamic supremacists in the United Kingdom to the United States and other nations.

But the past several weeks have shown a willingness of British government agencies to ignore the basis behind such Jihadist threats. This has been seen in the recent MI5 report that states that Jihadists are not "religious zealots" and that there is "no single pathway" to Jihad, ignoring the ideology of Islamic supremacism. This has also been seen in the British Home Office's inconsistencies in trying to discredit Al-Qaeda, while promoting an individual who calls for Jihad in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Israel. Such combined denial and inconsistencies should be troubling to Americans.

On further inspection, these actions are part of a larger challenge for the British government and for American national security in honestly addressing and confronting the Islamic supremacist ideology behind Jihad. Recent studies have shown that many young British Muslims continue to believe violence is justified by religion, and over the past several months, some Americans have finally seen excerpts from videotapes from British Jihadists in the August 2006 transatlantic jet terror plot - where such Britons justify their actions based on an Islamic Jihad against America.

The British government will not recognize the terms "Jihad" or "Islamist terrorist," and claims that it has a "counter-radicalization" process in place to discourage "extremism" and the use of violence. British "counter-radicalization" tactics fail to identify an ideology that such "extremists" embrace, making such tactics of questionable value at best. America should rightly be skeptical of such British "counter-radicalization" tactics, given the long history of British tolerance and appeasement of Islamic supremacists, both before and after 9/11. Instead, such British "counter-radicalization" tactics are being promoted in the United States, and being recommended by American analysts to our policy makers, military, and legislators.

Islamic supremacism in the United Kingdom is not just a British problem. It remains a near and present threat to America's national security and the security of our allies. Furthermore, as British tactics are being promoted to be used in the United States as well, such tactics must be examined in the larger war of ideas against Jihad and Islamic supremacism. As the British Channel 4 Dispatches documentary "Undercover Mosques-The Return" will show, Islamic supremacist preaching continues in British mosques thought to be "dedicated to moderation"; the UK Guardian, Daily Telegraph, London Times, Daily Mail all have reports on such Islamic supremacist hatred, segregationist views, and calls to violence being taught in mosque preaching to adults and children. This is the same Islamic supremacism and hatred revealed in the Channel 4's previous documentary "Undercover Mosques." It is clear that the war of ideas is being lost in the key battlefield of the United Kingdom, because the British government and its leaders refuse to acknowledge who and what the enemy ideology of Islamic supremacism is. Americans must not only learn lessons from their shortcomings for our own national security, we also must not repeat such British mistakes ourselves.

On the following pages, I have summarized the challenge at multiple levels of the British government, the impact of refusing to understand the supremacist nature of the Jihadist ideology we face, and the political blinders that keep many British leaders (and increasingly American leaders) from recognizing that there is no way to compromise with Islamic supremacism. Ultimately, like any supremacist ideology, as shown in America's history in fighting white supremacism in the 20th century, we must declare a confrontational war of ideas at every level to combat Islamic supremacism. I have divided this analysis into the following major topics:

The UK's Security Service MI-5 report recently leaked to the UK Guardian newspaper is reported to show that "there is no single pathway to violent extremism" and "there is evidence that a well-established religious identity actually protects against violent radicalisation."

However, a new documentary "Undercover Mosques: The Return" by UK's Channel 4 is to be broadcast on September 1 that shows Islamic supremacists promoting such radicalism directly in British mosques:  "Channel 4 announces return of Undercover Mosque," by Tara Conlan for the Guardian, August 22:

In the new documentary, a female reporter attends prayer meetings at an important British mosque which claims to be dedicated to moderation and "dialogue with other faiths".

According to Channel 4, "she secretly films sermons given to the women-only congregation in which female preachers recite extremist and intolerant beliefs".

In one scene, as hundreds of women and some children come to pray, a preacher calls for adulterers, homosexuals, women who act like men and Muslim converts to other faiths to be killed, saying: "Kill him, kill him. You have to kill him, you understand. This is Islam."

Channel 4 also said that in the same mosque, "the reporter visits the bookshop and discovers books and DVDs still on sale, promoting extremist, anti-Semitic, misogynistic and intolerant messages".

The undercover reporter also "films inside a key Saudi-funded Muslim organisation, which claims to promote tolerance and integration yet distributes literature which promotes intolerance for non-Muslims, an extreme version of sharia law and teachings which support discrimination against women".

In addition, Undercover Mosque: The Return also "investigates the role of the Saudi Arabian religious establishment in spreading a hard-line, fundamentalist Islamic ideology in the UK - the very ideology the government claims to be tackling".

A former Foreign Office minister tells Dispatches he thinks the government should take a stronger line on the issue.

If American leadership was looking for a case study on "what not to do" in addressing the challenge of Islamic supremacism, it would need to look no further than the United Kingdom. But in the chorus of denial on the challenge of Islamic supremacism, there are many who (frighteningly) believe that the United Kingdom offers ideas and research that could be valuable in counterterrorism measures in the United States. In fact, if America continues to pursue an approach of denial on Islamic supremacism, comparable to that of the United Kingdom's, it could well go down its same disastrous path.

The symptoms of the United Kingdom's disastrous policies on Islamic supremacism can be seen in the June 22, 2008 London Times where Sir Simon Jenkins writes that: "[t]he Taliban's chief objective is not world domination but a share of power in Afghanistan... [and that the Taliban] offer the best hope of beating Al-Qaeda." (Of course, the Taliban's objectives are to work towards a Sharia-based Islamic supremacist global caliphate, one country at a time, just as Al-Qaeda.) Such symptoms can also been seen in the recent comments by Sir Hugh Orde (frontrunner to be the next commissioner of Metropolitan Police) that UK should negotiate with Al-Qaeda. Most importantly, such symptoms can be seen in the repeated attempts by British Jihadists to commit mass casualty terrorist attacks in April 2001, December 2001, and 2006 on the United States homeland, and the position of the United Kingdom as the "focal point for Islamic terrorism across Europe." The disastrous United Kingdom approach to addressing Islamic supremacism has made it one of the most dangerous countries in the world, and a continuing serious threat to America's national security.

But among the chorus in denial on the threat of Islamic supremacism, the efforts of the United Kingdom to try to "engage" its Muslim community to discourage Muslims from "extremism" seem attractive. The UK Home Office's Jonathan Allen recently summarized this approach to a George Washington University panel on homeland security issues that Muslims don't need to agree with United Kingdom foreign policies to share UK's position on being against such "criminals" as Jihadists. Last winter, the United Kingdom government also developed its own "terror lexicon" where terms such as "Jihad," "Islamism," etc., would no longer be used, and the London police force started instructing its officers on Sharia law.

While there is a plethora of detail on tactics involving British Jihad and Islamism (much of which I address at the web site "British Jihad and Islamism Watch"), my focus in this article is on how the ideological challenges have failed in the United Kingdom, and why such failures must not be replicated to address tactical efforts in counterterrorism in the United States.

The United Kingdom strategies against Islamic supremacism have failed precisely because they have been consistently weak on the issue of Islamic supremacism as an ideology. Historically, the United Kingdom looked the other way for decades as Islamic supremacists infiltrated the United Kingdom, set up Islamic supremacist organizations, publicly threatened violence, and developed a European logistics base within the United Kingdom. The UK immigration policies were considered so lax that Osama Bin Laden applied for asylum to move to the UK in 1995 as a safe haven for his Al Qaeda operations, while Bin Laden was planning the "Bojinka plot". Had Bin Laden managed to immigrate to the UK, or had Dhiren Barot's British Jihadist gang managed to successfully attack New York City prior to the 9/11 attacks, it well may have been the United Kingdom that the U.S. had to deal with rather than Afghanistan.

During the decades of the United Kingdom's alleged "Gentleman's Agreement" with Islamic supremacists, other European nations were furious with UK's asylum for such supremacists and UK's unwillingness to crack down on this ideology. Many Europeans called the UK "Londonistan" due to its growing status as a logistics base, planning hub, and asylum center for Islamic supremacists throughout Europe. After the 9/11 attacks, Islamic supremacists such as al-Muhajiroun held conferences and rallies in "honor" of the "magnificent 19" who attacked America on 9/11, and Islamic supremacists became increasingly public and bold in their threats towards the Western world, encouraged by Al-Qaeda's attacks on America, and empowered by the UK's unwillingness to crack down on them.

It wasn't until the United Kingdom itself was attacked on July 7, 2005 in the London subway and bus bombings that the UK was sufficiently incentivized to "crack down" on Islamic supremacists. In a recent interview in Lebanon with Omar Bakri Mohammed, he stated that after the July 2005 bombings, the UK government "violated the 'Covenant of Security' (Aqd Al-Amaan) that had hitherto guaranteed peace between Muslims and the British state." But this did not last long. A few years after inconsistent efforts to crack down on Islamic supremacist organizations, the UK government concluded that it was facing a bigger problem than it could handle. The estimates of the numbers of Islamic supremacist terrorists and supporters being monitored by the UK MI5 domestic intelligence agency have varied - ranging from 1,200 to 4,000 -- but the fundamental problem is that the UK MI5 and the UK government feel overwhelmed by the task and gravity of their threat. (Of course, the UK has no historical experience in facing a challenge like the 4 million member Ku Klux Klan white supremacist terrorist group in the United States.)

So in an effort to reinvent old policy, today's UK has gone to a "War on Criminals" mode (since they won't use the word "Jihadists"), continuing to avoid recognizing the threat of Islamic supremacism as an ideology, and continuing to tolerate Islamic supremacist organizations (such as Hizb ut-Tahrir), while using terminology and public relations efforts (such as training Bobbies on Sharia) to convince British Muslims not to accept "extremism" or to support "criminals." In fact, this "new policy" is not much more different from the "old policy" on Islamic supremacist ideology, except that if Islamic supremacists make direct, public, and prosecutable threats, then they can expect to be arrested, at least until they are turned loose again.

This "new strategy" by UK is not intended to confront Islamic supremacism as an ideology at all, which is why the chorus of denial on Islamic supremacism find it so attractive. It is only intended to discourage and temporarily disrupt Islamic supremacist terrorist plots from being actualized on a rolling basis. What the UK government fails to appreciate is that it can't simply keep its ship of state afloat by endlessly bailing water as the hole in the bottom continues to grow larger. So with every new Sharia court established in the UK, with every new instance where British courts accepts Sharia, with every new pronouncement that Sharia law should be accepted, with every new comment that the Taliban and Al-Qaeda should be negotiated with, the empowerment of Islamic supremacism continues to grow as an ideology that can affect change within the United Kingdom. While the UK government believes that such "tolerance" and "understanding" of Islamic supremacism defuses violence, it fails to understand that weakness in its national values encourages others to gravitate to stronger, more defined values, such as Islamic supremacism.

Furthermore, the UK's history in conflict management over a foreign empire is one that ultimately concluded in constant defeat of Britain in region after region, resulting in a culture of conflict avoidance by the mid 20th century. Such conflict avoidance with Nazi Germany supremacists nearly cost the UK its national sovereignty, and those who demonize pre-WWII UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain should recognize that he represented a view common in British society at that time, and which has sadly been revitalized today.

While the chorus of denial on Islamic supremacism points to the UK experiments in "engaging" its Muslim society as a laudable example to be followed, it must be remembered that it is the American historical experience and commitment to sacrifice for the equality against supremacist organizations that is our most valuable lesson. It must be remembered that the UK continues to represent one of the greatest threats by Islamic supremacism towards the United States in the world - with repeated mass-casualty terrorist attack attempts by British Jihadists against the United States homeland. The last country (except perhaps for Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, or Iran) that the United States should seek to "learn lessons" from should be the United Kingdom.

Unlike the United States, the United Kingdom had no Abraham Lincoln, no Emancipation Proclamation, no Gettysburg Address, no words "all men are created equal" chiseled in marble in a memorial in the heart of its capital. It simply is not the same country as the United States. In America's Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom, our fundamental differences were clearly stated in the defiant declaration of the ideal that "All Men Are Created Equal."

Our beloved values ensure that America's population knows what it means to be "American." Does the UK's population know what it means to be "British"? The UK's history in the Magna Carta is focused on "liberty," but not necessarily equality. Liberty is only half of the equation of freedom, equality is the other completing half of freedom that provides the values to truly challenge any supremacist ideology.

America's war on white supremacism and its consistent sacrifices for both liberty and equality provide the necessary and relevant historical examples on how to counter such threats and provide the basis for a declaration of independence from Islamic supremacist influences.
